Feet, Inches, and cm: A Height Conversion Chart You'll Actually Use
Height is one of the most common things people need to convert between feet/inches and centimeters — whether it's for a form, a doctor's visit, or comparing measurements from different countries.
The formulas
- Feet + inches to cm: (feet × 12 + inches) × 2.54
- cm to feet + inches: divide cm by 2.54 to get total inches, then divide by 12 for feet (keep the remainder as inches)
Worked example
Someone who is 5 ft 9 in: (5 × 12 + 9) = 69 inches, then 69 × 2.54 = 175.26 cm.
Going the other way, 180 cm ÷ 2.54 = 70.87 inches, which is 5 ft (60 in) plus about 10.9 remaining inches — roughly 5 ft 11 in.
